The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool includes a performance data collection engine that is used to query performance counter objects on computers that are running Exchange 2000 Server or Exchange Server 2003. The performance data collection engine collects data from multiple performance counters of the Processor performance object to analyze performance data.
The Exchange Server Analyzer also reads the following registry entry to determine the version of Microsoft Windows® running on the Exchange Server computer:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\CurrentVersion
A CurrentVersion value of 4.0 indicates that the Exchange Server computer is running Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0. A value of 5.0 indicates that the Exchange Server computer is running Windows 2000 Server and a value of 5.2 indicates the Exchange Server computer is running Windows Server™ 2003.
Finally, the Exchange Server Analyzer also queries the CIM_Datafile Microsoft Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) class to determine the value that is set for the Version key of the Wldap32.dll file.
The Exchange Server Analyzer displays a warning if the following conditions are true:
- The Exchange Server Analyzer has detected high CPU utilization
on the server being analyzed.
- The Exchange Server computer is running Windows
2000 Server.
- The value for the version key of the Wldap32.dll file indicates
a version that is earlier than version 5.0.2195.7044.
This warning indicates that the version of Wldap32.dll found can potentially cause the Inetinfo.exe process to consume 100% of the CPU on Windows 2000 Server systems.
To address this issue, obtain the update referenced by Microsoft Knowledge Base article 899019, "The Inetinfo.exe process may use 100 percent of the CPU resources on a Windows 2000 Server computer that is running Exchange 2000 Server" (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=3052&kbid=899019).
