Microsoft® Exchange Server 2007 setup cannot continue because Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Common Files are not installed on this server.

Microsoft Exchange Management Shell may require remote IIS Metabase access. The metabase is a repository for most IIS configuration values. Remote access to the metabase requires that the appropriate COM+ DLLs be installed on the local computer.

To resolve this issue, install the IIS Common Files on this server and then rerun Exchange 2007 setup.

To Install IIS Common Files by Using Control Panel on Windows Server™ 2003
  1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.

  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.

  3. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.

  4. In the Components list click the Application Server check box.

  5. Click Details.

  6. In the Subcomponents of Application Server list click the Internet Information Services (IIS) check box.

  7. Click Details.

  8. Click the Common Files check box.

  9. Click OK until you are returned to the Windows Component Wizard.

  10. Click Next and complete the Windows Component Wizard.

To Install IIS 6 Compatibility by Using "Turn Windows features on or off" in Windows Vista
  1. Click Start, type programs and features in the Search box, and then click Programs and Features in the Programs list. If you are prompted to do so, enter your credentials, or click Continue.

  2. Under Tasks, click the Turn Windows features on or off link.

  3. In the Windows Features dialog box, expand Internet Information Services, expand Web Management Tools, and then expand IIS 6 Management Compatibility.
