The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool has determined the Exchange streaming database (.stm) file is inaccessible.

Each database in Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange Server 2003 is made up of two files: the .edb Exchange database file and the .stm streaming database file. These files must be accessed and processed together.

To correct this error:

• Locate the path for the .stm file. In Exchange System Manager, this path is defined on the database properties page for each database object.

• Verify that the .stm file for this database exists.

• Verify that you have permissions to access the folder where the .stm file is located.

• Verify that the file has not been exclusively locked by another process. One way to verify this is to try to rename the file. If you can successfully rename the file, this indicates the file is not exclusively locked. (Remember to rename the file back to its original name.)
