The Microsoft Exchange Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory directory service to determine the value of the serialNumber attribute for all objects that have an object class of msExchExchangeServer. The following table contains a key to the attribute values.

Value contains The computer is running

Version 5.5

Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5

Version 6.0

Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

Version 6.5

Microsoft Exchange Server 2003

Version 8.0

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007

If the Exchange Analyzer finds that the target server is running Exchange Server 2007, the Exchange Analyzer queries the Active Directory directory service to determine the value for the msExchESEParamLogFileSize attribute of each storage group container for the Information Store.

The value for the msExchESEParamLogFileSize attribute represents the maximum size, in kilobytes, that the Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) transaction log file can reach before new log entries will overwrite the oldest log entries.

If the Exchange Analyzer finds that the value for the msExchESEParamLogFileSize attribute was changed from the default value of 1024, the Exchange Analyzer displays an error.

The default value is 1024.This value applies to all storage groups on the server and should never be changed.

To address this error, correct the value by using a utility such as the Active Directory Service Interfaces (ADSI) Edit snap-in, the LDP (ldp.exe) tool, or any other Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) version 3 client.

Caution:
If you incorrectly modify the attributes of Active Directory objects when you use Active Directory Service Interfaces (ADSI) Edit, the LDP (ldp.exe) tool, or another Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) version 3 client, you may cause serious problems. These problems may require you to reinstall Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003, Exchange Server 2003 or Exchange Server 2007, or both. Modify Active Directory object attributes at your own risk.
