Use the Mailbox node under Server Configuration to display a list of all servers in the organization that have the Mailbox server role installed and to perform actions specific to that server role.

To focus on a set of items in the result pane that have specific attributes, you can use a variety of expressions to filter the list. For more information about filters, see Filter the Result Pane.

When you select the Mailbox node under Server Configuration, the result pane displays your Mailbox servers. When you select one of these servers, the action pane displays the actions that you can perform on the selected server. The following actions are listed under the server's name.

Switchover Server

Click Switchover Server to move all active mailbox database copies from the selected Mailbox server to one or more other Mailbox servers in a database availability group (DAG). This task would be performed as part of preparation for a scheduled outage for the selected Mailbox server.

For more information, see Perform a Server Switchover.

Manage <Server Role>

Click Manage <Server Role> to manage the configuration for servers that have the selected server role installed. When you click Manage <Server Role>, you will navigate to the corresponding sub-node under Server Configuration.

For more information, see Configure Server Properties.

Manage Diagnostic Logging Properties

Click Manage Diagnostic Logging Properties to modify the diagnostic logging level for services. Modifying the logging levels may help you troubleshoot errors that occur in an Exchange environment.

For more information, see Manage Diagnostic Logging Levels.

Properties

Click Properties to configure the settings of the selected Mailbox server.

For more information, see Configure Mailbox Server Properties.

Database Copies

The Database Copies tab in the work pane lists all the databases copies that exist on the selected server.

Note:
This tab only allows you to view the properties and status of database copies. To manage databases, go to Organization Configuration > Mailbox.

For more information, see Managing Mailbox Database Copies.
