Security is an important aspect of any Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 installation. By default, all Exchange 2010 protocols, including Microsoft Office Outlook Web App, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, and the Autodiscover service are automatically configured for Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connectivity. Installing a Client Access Server in a Perimeter Network
It is not supported to locate an Exchange 2010 Client Access server in a perimeter network. Exchange 2010 Client Access servers have direct access to Exchange 2010 Mailbox servers.
