Use the Hub Transport node under Organization Configuration to view and maintain the features of the Hub Transport server role.
The Hub Transport server role is deployed inside your organization's Active Directory. It handles all internal mail flow, applies organizational message routing policies, and is responsible for delivering messages to a recipient's mailbox.
When you select the Hub Transport node under Organization Configuration, the following Hub Transport related actions are available in the action pane. The same actions are also available if you right-click the Hub Transport node:
- New Remote Domain

Opens the New Remote Domain wizard that walks you through creating a new remote domain. For detailed steps, see Create a Remote Domain.
- New Accepted Domain

Opens the New Accepted Domain wizard that walks you through creating a new accepted domain. For detailed steps, see Create an Accepted Domain.
- New E-mail Address Policy

Opens the New E-mail Address Policy wizard that walks you through creating a new e-mail address policy. For detailed steps, see Create an E-Mail Address Policy.
- New Transport Rule

Opens the New Transport Rule wizard that walks you through creating a new transport rule. For detailed steps, see Create a Transport Rule.
- New Journal Rule

Opens the New Journal Rule wizard that walks you through creating a new journal rule. For detailed steps, see Create a Journal Rule.
- New Send Connector

Opens the New Send Connector wizard that walks you through creating a new Send connector. For detailed steps, see Create an SMTP Send Connector.
- New Edge Subscription

Opens the New Edge Subscription wizard that walks you through setting up a new Edge Subscription. For detailed steps, see Import an Edge Subscription File to an Active Directory Site.
- Export List

Exports the list of objects in the result pane to a text file. For more information about this action, see Exchange Management Console.
- View

Provides various options to modify how objects are displayed in the Exchange Management Console. For more information about this action, see Exchange Management Console.
- Refresh

Refreshes the objects listed in the result and work panes.
The Hub Transport node has the following tabs in the result pane:
- Remote Domains

Use this tab to view and maintain the remote domains in your configuration.
When you select the Remote Domains tab, additional actions specific to remote domains appear in the action pane. For information about these actions, see Organization Configuration > Hub Transport > Remote Domains.
- Accepted Domains

Use this tab to view and maintain accepted domains in your configuration.
When you select the Accepted Domains tab, additional actions specific to accepted domains appear in the action pane. For information about these actions, see Organization Configuration > Hub Transport > Accepted Domains.
- E-mail Address Policies

Use this tab to view and maintain the e-mail address policies in your configuration. E-mail address policies determine the default format for users' aliases.
When you select the E-mail Address Policies tab, additional actions specific to e-mail address policies appear in the action pane. For information about these actions, see Organization Configuration > Hub Transport > E-Mail Address Policies.
- Transport Rules

Use this tab to view and maintain the transport rules in your configuration. The transport rules that you configure on one Hub Transport server are applied through Active Directory to all other Hub Transport servers in the Exchange 2010 organization.
The transport rules that you configure on an Edge Transport server are applied only to e-mail messages that pass through that specific Edge Transport server.
When you select the Transport Rules tab, additional actions specific to transport rules appear in the action pane. For information about these actions, see Hub and Edge Transport > Transport Rules.
- Journal Rules

Use this tab to view and maintain the journal rules in your configuration.
The Journaling agent is a compliance-focused agent that you can configure to journal e-mail messages that are sent or received in the Exchange 2010 organization. A journal rule can be applied to all e-mail, or scoped to apply to just internal or external e-mail.
When you select the Journal Rules tab, additional actions specific to journaling appear in the action pane. For information about these actions, see Organization Configuration > Hub Transport > Journal Rules.
- Send Connectors

Use this tab to view and maintain the Send connectors in your configuration. There are no Send connectors created by default.
In Exchange 2010, Send connectors create a logical connection to remote mail systems.
When you select the Send Connectors tab, additional actions specific to Send connectors appear in the action pane. For information about these actions, see Organization Configuration > Hub Transport > Send Connectors.
- Edge Subscriptions

Use this tab to manage the Edge Subscriptions that allow for replication of configuration data from Active Directory to the local Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) instance on the Edge Transport server. If you install more than one Edge Transport server, each server requires a separate Edge Subscription file.
When you select the Edge Subscriptions tab, additional actions specific to Edge Subscriptions appear in the action pane. For information about these actions, see Organization Configuration > Hub Transport > Edge Subscriptions.

Use this tab to manage the global settings that apply to all Hub Transport servers in your organization.
