You can disable Microsoft ActiveSync. When you disable ActiveSync on a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Client Access server, you disable the application pool ActiveSync uses. An application pool is a group of processes that Internet Information Services (IIS) uses to perform a task. For more information, see Understanding Exchange ActiveSync.

Prerequisites
- The IIS component ASP.NET is installed.
- The ASP.NET Web service extension status is set to
Allowed, not Prohibited. You can verify the status of
the ASP.NET Web service extension in IIS Manager by expanding the
server name and then clicking Web Service Extensions. If the
ASP.NET Web service extension isn't set to Allowed,
right-click the Web service extension to change the status.
Use IIS Manager to disable Exchange ActiveSync
To perform these steps you must have Local Administrator permissions on the Client Access server.
Click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
- Double-click to expand the server name, and then double-click
to expand the Application Pools folder.
- Right-click MSExchangeSyncAppPool, and then click
Stop to disable ActiveSync.
