The deployment phase is the period during which you install Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 into your production environment. Before you begin the deployment phase, you should plan your Exchange organization. For details about planning for multi-tenancy, see Planning Checklist for Multi-Tenancy.
Note: |
---|
The Unified Messaging and Edge Transport server roles aren't supported for multi-tenant deployments. |
Prerequisite
Before you begin, make sure that you are familiar with the concepts and procedures involved in deploying Exchange 2010. For details, see Deploying Exchange 2010.
Checklist
Use this checklist to deploy your Exchange 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Multi-tenant organization. In most cases, the tasks for deploying a multi-tenant organization are the same as deploying an Enterprise organization. Therefore, any tasks specific to deploying a multi-tenant organization are noted in the Multi-tenant tasks column.
Important: |
---|
If you attempted to install Exchange, but didn’t use the /hosting switch to prepare Active Directory, you must clean up Active Directory and prepare it again for hosting mode. If you have an existing Exchange Enterprise installation and you inadvertently attempted to install using the /hosting switch, you should use Registry Editor to clean up the Exchange Hosting registry. This helps ensure that Enterprise features continue to function properly. |
