Use the Enable-AntispamUpdates cmdlet to determine the type of Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server anti-spam updates that are retrieved and to set the mode by which the anti-spam updates are retrieved on a computer that has the Edge Transport server role or the Hub Transport server role installed.

Detailed Description
This cmdlet controls the types of anti-spam updates
that are downloaded. This cmdlet also controls whether the
anti-spam updates are downloaded automatically or require the
administrator to manually retrieve the updates by visiting Microsoft Update. You set the UpdateMode
parameter to Automatic
for automatic download of
Exchange anti-spam updates. You set the UpdateMode parameter
to Manual
to manually retrieve Exchange anti-spam
updates. For more information, see How to Configure

If it is required, the Enable-AntispamUpdates task also performs the opt-in operation. Users must opt in to using Microsoft Update so that anti-spam updates published on Microsoft Update are visible to the Exchange server.
To take advantage of Spam signature updates and IP
Reputation Service updates, you must set the UpdateMode
parameter to Automatic
.
To run the Enable-AntispamUpdates cmdlet, the account you use must be delegated the following:
- Exchange Server Administrator role and local Administrators
group for the target server
To run the Enable-AntispamUpdates cmdlet on a computer that has the Edge Transport server role installed, you must log on by using an account that is a member of the local Administrators group on that computer.
