Use the Enable-AntispamUpdates cmdlet to determine the type of Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server anti-spam updates that are retrieved and to set the mode by which the anti-spam updates are retrieved on a computer that has the Edge Transport server role or the Hub Transport server role installed.

Parameters

DomainController	Optional	Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Fqdn	To specify the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the domain controller that writes this configuration change to the Active Directory directory service, include the DomainController parameter on the command. The DomainController parameter is not supported on computers that run the Edge Transport server role. The Edge Transport server role reads and writes only to the local ADAM instance.
Identity	Optional	Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.ServerIdParameter	This parameter specifies the server that retrieves the Exchange anti-spam updates from Microsoft Update.
IPReputationUpdatesEnabled	Optional	System.Boolean	This parameter specifies whether IP Reputation Service updates are retrieved. The default value is `$false`. If this parameter is set to `$true`, the UpdateMode parameter must be set to `Automatic`.
MicrosoftUpdate	Optional	Microsoft.Exchange.Transport.Agent.AntiSpam.Common.OptInStatus	This parameter enables the opt-in status for Microsoft Update and configures the Automatic Update functionality for the updates. Valid input for this parameter includes: `RequestDisabled` This value disables Automatic Update. `RequestNotifyDownload` Automatic Update notifies you when new updates are ready for download. `RequestNotifyInstall` Automatic Update downloads updates and notifies you when they are available for installation. `RequestScheduled` This value sets download and installation of updates according to the configuration of the Automatic Update on the computer. To set an Automatic Update schedule, see Microsoft Update.
SpamSignatureUpdatesEnabled	Optional	System.Boolean	This parameter specifies whether Spam signature updates are retrieved. The default value is `$false`. If this parameter is set to `$true`, the UpdateMode parameter must be set to `Automatic`.
UpdateMode	Optional	Microsoft.Exchange.Transport.Agent.AntiSpam.Common.AntispamUpdateMode	This parameter specifies the mode by which the anti-spam updates are retrieved. The default value is `Manual`. The `None` value prevents updates from being retrieved. To retrieve Spam signature updates or IP Reputation Service updates, this parameter must be set to `Automatic`.

Detailed Description

This cmdlet controls the types of anti-spam updates that are downloaded. This cmdlet also controls whether the anti-spam updates are downloaded automatically or require the administrator to manually retrieve the updates by visiting Microsoft Update. You set the UpdateMode parameter to Automatic for automatic download of Exchange anti-spam updates. You set the UpdateMode parameter to Manual to manually retrieve Exchange anti-spam updates. If it is required, the Enable-AntispamUpdates task also performs the opt-in operation. Users must opt in to using Microsoft Update so that anti-spam updates published on Microsoft Update are visible to the Exchange server.

To take advantage of Spam signature updates and IP Reputation Service updates, you must set the UpdateMode parameter to Automatic.

To run the Enable-AntispamUpdates cmdlet, the account you use must be delegated the following:

Exchange Server Administrator role and local Administrators group for the target server

To run the Enable-AntispamUpdates cmdlet on a computer that has the Edge Transport server role installed, you must log on by using an account that is a member of the local Administrators group on that computer.
