This topic explains how to install the Mailbox server role on the passive node for a clustered mailbox server (CMS) in a single copy cluster (SCC) on Windows Server 2003. You can install the passive node by using the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Setup wizard (Setup.exe) or by using the command-line version of Setup (Setup.com).

Before You Begin

You can perform this procedure before or after the Mailbox server role has been installed on the active node. For detailed steps that explain how to install the Mailbox server role on the active node, see How to Install the Active Clustered Mailbox Role in a Single Copy Cluster on Windows Server 2003.

To install the Mailbox server role, the account you use must be delegated the Exchange Server Administrator role and local Administrators group for the target server. For more information about permissions, delegating roles, and the rights that are required to administer Exchange 2007, see Permission Considerations.
