This topic explains how to modify the Microsoft Exchange Jetstress configuration file to resolve an error message that you receive when you run the Jetstress tool.

When you run the Jetstress tool to test Exchange Server 2007 and create a test report, you receive the following error message:

Error: System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception

Resolution

This issue occurs if the UseNasDevice parameter in the Jetstress configuration file is set to true. Currently, Exchange 2007 does not support network-attached storage devices.

To address this issue, set the UseNasDevice parameter in the Jetstress configuration file to false. By default, the Jetstress configuration file has the following path:

%ProgramFiles%\Exchange Jetstress\JetstressConfig.xml

To modify the Jetstress configuration file
  1. Locate and then open the JetstressConfig.xml file by using a text editor such as Notepad.

  2. On the Edit menu, click Find, type usenasdevice, click to put the insertion point at the beginning of the .xml file, and then click Find Next.

  3. In the JetstressConfig.xml file, modify the <UseNasDevice>true</UseNasDevice> entry to have a value of false. For example, change it to <UseNasDevice>false</UseNasDevice>.

  4. Save the changes to the file, and then exit the text editor.
