This topic explains how to use ADSI Edit to set the value of the MSExchPFTree attribute to 1 instead of 0.
When you click Update Hierarchy in the Exchange Management Console, you receive the following error message:
Action 'Update Hierarchy' could not be performed on object 'Update Hierarchy'. Error: No MAPI public tree was not found. |
This issue may occur in a mixed organization in which the Public Folder hierarchy does not replicate between Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2007. Replication does not occur because the MSExchPFTree attribute is set to 0 instead of 1 on the CN=Public Folders container in Active Directory.
To resolve this issue, use ADSI Edit to set the value of the MSExchPFTree attribute to 1 on the computer that is running Exchange 2007.
To set the value of the MSExhPFTree attribute to 1, follow these steps:
-
On the computer that is running Exchange 2007, start ADSI Edit.
-
In the appropriate Administrative Group, expand CN=Configuration,CN=Services,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Organization_Name,CN=Administrative Groups,CN=Administrative_Group_Name,CN=Folder Hierarchies.
Note: The Folder Hierarchies container can be moved between Administrative Groups, and it may not be listed under the First Administrative Group. Also, more than one Folder Hierarchies container may exist under the Administrative Group. Therefore, you must determine which Folder Hierarchies container holds the Public Folders container. -
In the Folder Hierarchies container, right-click CN=Public Folders, and then click Properties.
-
In the Attributes list, click MSExchPFTree, and then click Edit.
-
Click Clear, type 1 in the Value box, and then click OK.
-
Click OK, and then close ADSI Edit.
