The Manage Diagnostic Logging Properties wizard provides user interface based diagnostic logging functionality that enables you to easily update and manage server logging properties. You can change the diagnostic logging level for Exchange processes to help troubleshoot issues that may occur in an Exchange Server 2007 environment.

Note:
The Manage Diagnostic Logging Properties wizard is available only with Exchange 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2) and later.

Changing the process logging level for a process may not yield additional events in the Event log. Many variables affect whether a change to the process logging level setting will increase the number of events. These variables include, but are not limited to, the actions that are being performed by the process and the number of events that are implemented in the source code for the logging level that is selected.

Use this wizard page to configure the following attributes of diagnostic logging.

Update logging levels for services

Click this button so that you can select the processes that you want to change for diagnostic logging.

Logging Levels

This area contains the service/category tree where you select the processes that you want to change for diagnostic logging.

Lowest, Low, Medium, High, Expert
  • These buttons let you select the level of diagnostic logging that you want to apply to the selected process.

  • For more information about the levels and their meanings, see Diagnostic Logging of Exchange Processes.

Reset all services to default logging levels
  • Click this button to restore the diagnostic logging level to the default setting. Typically, the default setting is Lowest.
