Use the Cluster IP Address Configuration page to configure the IP settings for the clustered mailbox server. Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) introduces support for new cluster networking features in Windows Server 2008, including support for multi-subnet failover clusters, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4), and (Internet Protocol Version 6) IPv6. The Cluster IP Address Configuration page is divided into First Subnet and Second Subnet.

| When running Exchange 2007 (with or without Service Pack 1) on Windows Server 2003 you can only use a single subnet, the First Subnet. In addition, you cannot use DHCP IPv4 or IPv6 addresses. These features are available only when running Exchange 2007 SP1 on Windows Server 2008. |
Use the First Subnet area to configure a cluster network for the clustered mailbox server.
- IPv4 Network Select this option if all
public network interfaces in the cluster use IPv4 addresses. After
you select this option, you must select a static IP address or use
DHCP.
- If you want to use a static IP address for the clustered
mailbox server, select Use the following static IPv4
address, and then enter the IP address in dotted decimal format
in the field.
- If you want to use a dynamically assigned IP address for the
clustered mailbox server, select Use a dynamically assigned
(DHCP) IPv4 address for the following network. Then, click
Browse to select the public cluster network.
- If you want to use a static IP address for the clustered
mailbox server, select Use the following static IPv4
address, and then enter the IP address in dotted decimal format
in the field.
- IPv6 Network Select this option if all
public network interfaces in the cluster use IPv6 addresses. Then,
click Browse to select the public cluster network.
Use the Second Subnet to configure a second cluster network for the clustered mailbox server. Use this option only for geographically dispersed clustered mailbox servers that are running on Windows Server 2008. When configuring a second subnet, you must use the same type of IP address(es) for both subnets. For example, if the First Subnet is configured using only a static IPv4 address, the Second Subnet must also be configured using only a static IPv4 address.
After the subnet configuration is complete, click Next to proceed with Setup and perform the applicable Readiness Checks.
