This topic describes how to prepare to manage disk volumes for a cluster continuous replication (CCR) copy and control when a volume is accessible to the CCR environment.

CCR continuously checks and accesses the copy unless replication and replay are halted for the copy. If you need to manipulate the disk volumes, you must first halt replication and replay.

Before You Begin

To perform the following procedure, the account you use must be delegated the following:

  • Exchange Server Administrator role and local Administrators group for the target server

Depending on the volume management task you want to perform, local administrator permissions may be required. To determine the appropriate permissions for the desired storage management tasks, see your storage vendor's documentation.

For more information about permissions, delegating roles, and the rights that are required to administer Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, see Permission Considerations.

Procedure

To prepare for managing disk volumes for a CCR copy

  1. Halt replication by following the procedure detailed in How to Halt Replication for a Passive Copy in a CCR Environment.

  2. Refer to your storage vendor's documentation for the procedures for performing the desired volume management tasks.

  3. After the disk management activities are complete, resume replication by following the procedure detailed in How to Restart Replication for a Passive Copy in a CCR Environment.

For More Information
