This topic provides information about why you receive an error message when you use the New-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory cmdlet to create the Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync virtual directory on a computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
When you use the New-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory cmdlet to create the Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync virtual directory, you receive the following error message:
WARNING: A failure occurred while trying to enable the ISAPI filter. New-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory : An error occurred while creating the IIS virtual directory 'IIS://ServerName.example.com/W3SVC/1/ROOT/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync' on ServerName. At line:1 char:31 + New-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory <<<< -WebSiteName "Default Web Site". |
Cause
This issue occurs if the Remote Registry service is turned off.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, turn on the Remote Registry service. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type services.msc,
and then click OK.
- In the Services dialog box, double-click Remote
Registry.
- In the Remote Registry Properties (Local Computer)
dialog box, click Automatic in the Startup type list
if this option is not already selected.
- Click Start.
- After the Remote Registry service has started successfully,
click OK.
