Use the New Storage Group page to create a new storage group. For information about managing storage groups, see Managing Storage Groups and Databases.
Note: |
---|
You can also use the Exchange Management Shell to create a storage group. For more information, see New-StorageGroup (RTM). |
Use this wizard page to configure the following attributes of a storage group.
- Server Name
-
This read-only field displays the name of the Exchange server in which the storage group will be created.
- Storage Group Name
-
Use this text box to type the name of the storage group.
- Log files path
-
This text box displays the location where your transaction log files will be stored. Click Browse to change the default location.
Note: You cannot use the Exchange Management Console to change the log file location for remote Mailbox servers. To create storage groups on other Mailbox servers, use the New-StorageGroup (RTM) cmdlet in the Exchange Management Shell. The transaction log file location is where log files are written for the storage group. These log files record every change that is made to a database in that storage group.
- System files path
-
This text box displays the location where system files will be stored. By default, this location is the same as appears in the Log files location text box. Click Browse to change the default location.
- Local continuous replication system files path
-
If you select the Enable local continuous replication for this storage group check box, use this text box and the corresponding Browse button to specify where you want to store the LCR system files.
- Local continuous replication log files path
-
If you select the Enable local continuous replication for this storage group check box, use this text box and the corresponding Browse button to specify where you want to store the LCR log files.
- Enable local continuous replication for this storage group
-
Select this check this box to enable the local continuous replication (LCR) for this storage group.
LCR is a single-server solution that uses asynchronous log shipping technology to create and maintain a copy of a storage group on a second set of disks that are connected to the same server as the production storage group.
When you select this check box, the Local continuous replication log files location and Local continuous replication system file location text boxes will be auto-populated.
Note: If you implement local continuous replication when you create a storage group, you are limited to one database per storage group. To learn more about LCR, see Local Continuous Replication.
For information about managing local continuous replication, see Managing Local Continuous Replication.
