When you upload an update to the Device Update Web service from the Lync Server Control Panel, the update appears on the Pending Updates tab of the Lync Server Control Panel. After testing the update, you can opt to approve or reject it. Approving the update moves it to the Deployed Updates tab and makes it available to devices. If you do not want an update to be deployed to your organization’s devices, you can reject it. Rejecting the update removes it from the Lync Server Control Panel. It does not, however, remove the update image file from the file system. To completely remove the image file, you can purge it by using the Lync Server Control Panel. For instructions, see Purging Log and Image Files.

Important:
You should never manually delete an update file from the file system. Doing this could cause Device Update Web service to malfunction. You should always use the Lync Server Control Panel purge function to remove update files.
Note:
When working with updates, remember that a separate instance of Device Update Web service runs in each pool. When you upload, approve, reject, or roll back an update, this action takes effect only for the current pool.

To reject an update

  1. On the Pending Updates tab of the Device Update Web service from the Lync Server Control Panel, click the update to reject.

    Note:
Use CTRL+click to select multiple updates.
  2. Click Reject.
