The following procedures describe how to sign in to Microsoft Lync Server 2010, Group Chat Admin Tool by using both automatic and manual configuration. The manner with which you sign in depends on how Microsoft Lync 2010 Group Chat is installed and configured. If automatic configuration is enabled on the network, you can sign in using automatic configuration. Otherwise, you will have to use manual configuration. If you are not sure how Lync 2010 Group Chat is configured, try using automatic configuration first.

Important:
To sign in to Group Chat Admin Tool, you must have chat room administrator rights and permissions, or you must be a chat room manager on the root category. If you have administrator rights and permissions only for an individual chat room or for a category below the root category, you can manage the chat room only from Group Chat. You cannot access Group Chat Admin Tool. For details about administrator rights and permissions, see Managing Group Chat User Access.
