This topic discusses Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 (formerly Microsoft Operations Manager). There is a Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Operations Manager management pack available for System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2. For servers running Lync Server 2010 or Lync Server 2010 components that you monitor with System Center Operations Manager, you should put the pool or server into maintenance mode when you move, remove, or decommission them to prevent a large number of alerts from appearing in System Center Operations Manager.

To put a pool into maintenance mode

  1. Log on to the computer with an account that is a member of the Operations Manager Administrators role for the Operations Manager 2007 management group.

  2. In Operations, click Monitoring.

  3. In the Monitoring pane, expand Monitoring, and then expand Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Health.

  4. Click Pools and then click the pool name in the Pools pane.

  5. In Actions, expand LS Pool Tasks, and then click Put a LS pool in maintenance mode.

  6. In Run the task on these targets, click the pool.

  7. In Task parameters, override the value MaintenanceWindowInMinutes, and then click Run.

    Note:
    You can set the value in minutes with a minimum of 5 minutes and a maximum value of 1,051,200 minutes (2 years).
  8. Review the Task Status, confirm that it ran correctly, and then click Close.

To put a server into maintenance mode

  2. In Operations, click Monitoring.

  3. In the Monitoring pane, expand Monitoring, and then expand Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Health.

  4. Click Servers and then click the server name in the Servers pane.

  5. In Actions, expand State Actions, and then click Start Maintenance Mode.

  6. In Run the task on these targets, click the pool.

  7. In Task parameters, override the value MaintenanceWindowInMinutes, and then click Run.

  8. Review the Task Status, confirm that it ran correctly, and then click Close.
