In Microsoft Lync Server 2010, the Mediation Server and the A/V Conferencing Server are unique in that you can deploy them as a stand-alone pools or servers, and you can deploy them as a service on the Front End Server or Front End pool. Use the following procedures to transition from a collocated service to a stand-alone pool or server.

To transition a collocated A/V Conferencing service to a server

  1. Log on to the computer where Topology Builder is installed as a member of the Domain Admins group and the RTCUniversalServerAdmins group.

  2. Start Topology Builder: Click Start, click All Programs, click Microsoft Lync Server 2010, and then click Lync Server Topology Builder.

  3. Right-click A/V Conferencing pools, click New A/V Conferencing Pool, and then click Multiple computer pool or Single computer pool, as appropriate for the deployment.

  4. Do one of the following:

    • For a multiple computer pool, type the pool fully qualified domain name (FQDN) in Pool FQDN, click Next, type the computer FQDN in Computer FQDN, and then click Add. When you are finished entering the computer FQDNs of the pool computers, click Next.

    • For a single computer pool, type the computer FQDN in FQDN, and then click Next.

  5. On the Associate Front End pools page in Collocated A/V Conferencing pools, select the pools or servers)that currently have collocated A/V Conferencing service roles defined and that you want to associate with the new A/V Conferencing Server, and then click Finish.

    Tip:
When you complete the configuration of the new A/V Conferencing Server, you do not have to make changes to the Front End Server or Front End pool. The action of associating the new pool or server with the Front End Server or Front End pool adjusts the configuration of the collocated A/V Conferencing service and removes the association with the service.
