Device Update Web service runs on Web Services. As with Web Services, there is one instance of Device Update Web service running in each pool. When you make a configuration change to Device Update Web service, it is propagated to all of the servers in the pool. Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Enterprise Edition may have multiple servers in the pool. Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Standard Edition has one server in the pool.
