Before you remove the deployment, you should remove Lync Server users to remove attributes from the user accounts. This operation and does not disable or remove the users' Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) accounts. The procedure only removes attributes specific to Active Directory. Additionally, if there is not another pool to move the users to, we recommend that you remove users instead of disabling them. Disabling sets a flag that indicates that the user is disabled while retaining all of the attributes that associates the user with the pool, making it more difficult to assign the users to a new pool or deployment in the future.
