This topic provides a list of known issues as well as methods to troubleshoot problems with free/busy interoperability.
Known Issues
- Free/busy lookups don't work against Lotus
Domino servers started as an application. To resolve this issue,
start the Lotus Domino server as a Windows Service.
- Meeting invitations sent from Lotus Notes
6.5.5 or greater display correctly in Microsoft
Office Outlook, but the invitations include an iCal
attachment. This attachment can be ignored.
- Meeting invitations sent from Outlook lose
attachments when routed to Lotus Notes.
- Recurring meetings between Outlook and Lotus
Notes users cannot be updated because the systems process recurring
meetings differently. To update recurring meetings, cancel the
original meeting and then create a new meeting.
- Meeting requests with Rich Text created by
Lotus Notes users are displayed as plain text by Outlook.
- When a Lotus Notes 7.0.2 user creates a
meeting and lists Outlook users, Notes does not always send the
meeting to the first Outlook user. To resolve this issue, remove
this user's name and add the user again.
- Meetings scheduled by a Lotus Notes user and
sent to Microsoft Office Outlook users always have the
reminder set to 15 minutes prior to the meeting.
- Meetings with a custom pattern (for example,
first Tuesday, second Thursday) sent from a Lotus Notes user to
Outlook users are converted to e-mail messages rather than a
calendar item.
- Exchange rooms are not available to Lotus
Notes users when scheduling meetings.
- The Free/Busy Connector is not able to access
the Lotus Domino server running the Excalcon.exe task if that
server is not correctly registered in DNS. If the server's common
name doesn't match the computer's hostname, a DNS alias record must
be created.
- The Lotus Notes feature that moves a
recurring meeting that falls on a weekend to a weekday is not
supported in Exchange. The meeting will be listed on the scheduled
date, even if the date is a Saturday or Sunday.
- When the Mailbox server role and the Client
Access server role are installed on the same Exchange 2007
server, you must disable Publicvdir SSL in order to perform
free/busy lookups. To disable Publicvdir SSL, right-click My
Computer, select Manage and then click Internet
Information Services (IIS) Manager. Navigate to Web
Sites/Default Web Site/Public, and then open the Properties
dialog box. Switch to the Directory Security tab, and then
click Secure Communications Edit. Clear the Require
secure channel (SSL) option, and then click OK. Restart
IIS by typing iisreset at the command prompt for this change
to take effect.
- Free/busy lookups don't work against Lotus
Domino server started as an application. To resolve this issue,
start the Lotus Domino server as a service.
- Meeting invitations sent from Lotus Notes
6.5.5 or greater display correctly in Microsoft
Office Outlook; however, the invitations include an additional
iCal attachment. This attachment can be ignored.
- Meeting invitations sent from Outlook lose
attachments when routed to Lotus Notes.
- Recurring meetings between Outlook and Lotus
Notes users cannot be updated because the two systems process
recurring meetings differently. To update recurring meetings,
cancel the original meeting and then create a new meeting.
- Meeting requests with Rich Text created by
Lotus Notes users are displayed as plain text by Outlook.
- Meeting counter proposals/propose new time
between Outlook and Lotus Notes users do not work. Lotus Notes
users receive a tentative acceptance rather than a counter
proposal.
- Microsoft Exchange does not support
custom recurrence patterns for meetings. A meeting with custom
recurrence sent from a Lotus Notes user to an Outlook user is
displayed as an e-mail message in Outlook.
- When there is no Free/Busy public folder, the
following error occurs: Cannot find Exchange Server error when
trying to create new Free/Busy Connector. This error prevents the
Free/Busy Connector from being created. Create a free/busy public
folder, and then create the Free/Busy Connector.
- If Transporter is installed on an
Exchange Server 2007 server with the Mailbox and the
Client Access server roles, Free/Busy lookups won't work until
Publicvdir SSL is disabled. To disable Publicvdir SSL, right-click
My Computer, select Manage and then click Internet
Information Services (IIS) Manager. Navigate to Web
Sites/Default Web Site/Public, and then open the Properties
dialog box. Click the Directory Security tab, and then click
Secure Communications Edit. Clear the Require secure
channel (SSL) option, and then click OK. Restart IIS by
typing
iisreset
at the command prompt for this change to take effect.
- When using Domino Web Access against a Domino
6.5.5 server to send meeting invitations, Outlook user names are
not properly resolved. This does not affect functionality because
users can still accept, decline, tentatively accept meeting
requests, and reply to the sender.
- Lotus Notes users who send meetings via a
Domino 6.5.4 server may display Outlook user names strangely. This
issue does not affect functionality.
