You can use Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking to connect your voice network to a service provider who offers public switched telephone network (PSTN) origination, termination, and emergency services.
To deploy SIP trunking

Choose the telephone numbers that you want to route through the SIP trunk.

Choose a SIP trunking service provider.

Advise your SIP trunking service provider of the Direct Inward Dial (DID) telephone numbers that they must reroute to the SIP trunk at their end of the virtual private network (VPN).

Provision a VPN to your SIP trunking service provider. For details about settings, see the documentation provided by your SIP trunking service provider and your equipment vendors.

Test the VPN to verify that you can contact (ping) your SIP trunking service provider.

Connect your Mediation Server(s) to the VPN.

Create routing rules that route outbound calls over the chosen telephone numbers to the server that is handling SIP trunking.

Test inbound and outbound calling. If there are connection issues, return to step four to check the connection between the server and the VPN.
