Before you begin the migration to Office Communications Server 2007 R2, we strongly recommend that you perform a full system backup and document your existing system, including an inventory of user accounts that are homed on each pool, so that you can roll back to Live Communications Server 2005 if necessary.
If you choose to remove the Live Communications Server 2005 pool, you cannot use the Live Communications Server 2005 Lcscmd.exe tool to restore backups of the existing system onto the new system. You can export user data by using the Dbimpexp (that is, the Live Communications Server version) and import it into the new pool with the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 version of Lcscmd.exe.
