This topic helps you troubleshoot known issues with Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant. Do this by looking for an error condition and description in the following list and then following, and then applying the resolution.

Error message says the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 is not installed on your computer even though it is.

Issue:Failure to install because error message says the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 is not installed on your computer even though it is.

Resolution:Uninstall the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, restart your computer, and reinstall the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, and then install Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant. If you continue to receive this error message, check the version of the PresentationFramework.dll file by using Windows Explorer to examine its properties:

If the version is earlier than 3.0.6920.1109, the .NET Framework 3.5 is failing to update this file during installation. If reinstalling .NET Framework 3.5 does not fix this problem, check the log files from .NET Framework 3.5 installation or contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support.

Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant Is Not Supported Running on Office Communications Server 2007

Issue:The feature set for Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant is available only on Office Communications Server 2007 R2. Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant must be blocked from signing in to Office Communications Server 2007.

Resolution:Use the Client Version Filter feature in Office Communications Server 2007 to specifically block Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant clients from signing in to Office Communications Server 2007. For more information, see Configuring Client Version Filtering in the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 Administration Guide.

Installing an Older Version of Office Communicator on a Computer Where Office Communications Server Attendant Was Previously Installed Is Not Supported

Issue:After you have installed Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant, do not install earlier versions of Office Communicator on that same computer. There are known problems with installing Office Communicator 2005 or Office Communicator 2007 after Office Communications Server Attendant is uninstalled. This includes sound and call forwarding issues.

Resolution:No workaround is available.

Video Is Not Supported for Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant

Issue:Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant does not support video.

Resolution:If video is required, use Office Communicator 2007 R2.

Escalation from Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant to Live Meeting Not Supported

Issue:Escalating a conference from Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant to the Live Meeting client is not supported.

Resolution:If you want to meet by using Live Meeting, use Office Communicator or the Live Meeting client.

Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant Does Not Support File Sharing

Issue:Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant does not support sending or receiving files.

Resolution:If you need to send or receive files, use Office Communicator.

Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant Does Not Support Office Communicator 2007 Phone Edition Pairing

Issue:Pairing Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant with Office Communicator 2007 Phone Edition is not supported. If you install Office Communications Server Attendant on a computer, no unified communications program on that computer, including Office Communicator 2007 R2, will be able to pair with Office Communicator 2007 Phone Edition.

Resolution:If you need to pair with Office Communicator 2007 Phone Edition, remove Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant and install Office Communicator 2007 R2.

Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant Does Not Support Multiple Points of Presence with Office Communicator 2007 Phone Edition

Issue:Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant does not support a single user signing in to both Office Communicator 2007 Phone Edition and Office Communications Server Attendant at the same time.

Resolution:If you need to sign in to both clients as the same user at the same time, remove Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant and install Office Communicator 2007 R2.

Rich HTML IM and Ink Are Not Available When Office Communications Server Attendant and Office Communicator Are Installed on the Same Computer

Issue:If Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant is installed on the same computer as Office Communicator 2007 R2, you won’t be able to use ink or rich HTML instant messaging (IM) content in Office Communicator 2007 R2.

Resolution:Remove Communications Server 2007 R2 Attendant.
