Persistent Shared Object Model (PSOM) offers the most basic mechanism for uploading and downloading content to a conference. Uploading and downloading over PSOM involves only the Live Meeting clients, the Web Conferencing Server, and the file server where the Web conferencing metadata and content folders reside.
Using PSOM, the presenters Live Meeting client uploads a slide and its content. The Web Conferencing Server checks the presenter's permissions and then creates the state for the new slide. The Web Conferencing Server saves the state on the file server and then shares the new slide state with all clients in the conference.
The following figure shows the upload and download process for conference content.
For all slide types except poll slides, the content is sent with the first PSOM message. For poll slides, the content (that is, questions and choices) is sent after an initial create slide has been sent.
