If you need to coexist with an Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Edge environment—while providing external user access to a Microsoft Communications Server 2010 pool—deploy the Communications Server 2010 Edge server(s) and Director(s) side by side with the existing Edge. Otherwise, Communications Server 2010 will not have full functionality. Instructions and options for deploying this configuration are included in the “Migration Planning Guide”.
