Topic Last Modified: 2010-07-19
This topic includes pointers to installation information for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Both SQL Server 2005 SP3 and SQL Server 2008 SP1 are supported for the Microsoft Communications Server 2010 Central Management database. In deployments where SQL Server is already installed, Communications Server 2010 requires a unique SQL Server instance for the following server roles:
- Front End pools
- Monitoring Server
- Archiving Server
Additionally, each SQL server instance must be installed and available prior to publishing the topology. To create a SQL Server instance, you must be a local administrator on the SQL Server machine and be a member of the SQL Server Administrators group. For details about SQL Server supportability, see Acquire and Set Up Hardware and System Infrastructure.
