The new Announcement application in Microsoft Communications Server 2010 makes it possible to configure how phone calls are handled if the dialed number is valid but not assigned to a user or common area. Calls can be transferred to a predetermined destination or play an audio announcement or both.
Using the Announcement application avoids the situation in which a caller misdials and hears a busy tone or the SIP client receives an error message.
The Announcement application is a call management component of Enterprise Voice. When you deploy Enterprise Voice, you must configure the unassigned number routing table and Announcement application settings before this feature can be used.
