This topic describes the supported database management systems for the back-end database and the Archiving and Monitoring databases:
Back-end database server support:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Enterprise (64-bit edition)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express (64-bit edition)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition with SP3 or SQL
Server 2005 Standard Edition with SP3 (64-bit edition)

Microsoft Communications Server 2010 no longer supports SQL Server 2008 32-bit edition as a back-end database. You must use the 64-bit edition. |
The Archiving and Monitoring server roles require a full installation of SQL Server.

The Monitoring server roles require installing SQL Server Reporting Services as well. |

SQL Server Web edition and SQL Server Workgroup edition are not supported and cannot be used by Communications Server 2010. |
