There are two alternative methods of removing T-Mobile Communication Center from your system:
▪ Either run the uninstall program from the Start Programs menu.
▪ Or you can run the Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel.
T-Mobile Communication Center supports both the Nokia D211 WLAN/GPRS card and the GPRS PC-card from T-Mobile. To install any of these two cards to be used by T-Mobile Communication Center please follow the instructions below.
- After the T-Mobile Communication Center-installation, the Modem Wizard is launched automatically (Install New Modem-screen). The Modem Wizard enables you to install the Nokia D211GPRS/WLAN card or the GPRS PC-card from T-Mobile on your PC.
- To do this, simply choose Nokia D211 or the GPRS PC-card from T-Mobile in the left pull-down list in the Modem Wizard and then click ‘OK’. Follow the instructions on the screen and make sure that you have your card available and that your T-Mobile SIM card is inserted in the card.
M Important Notes
You can also install the devices through the Configuration Center, accessible from the Configuration button in the T-Mobile Communication Center UI. For more information, please refer to section Configuration – Miscellaneous tab page 31.
In the following sections How to install the Nokia D211 WLAN/GPRS card and How to install the GPRS PC-card from T-Mobile, you will find detailed information on how to install these two cards on your Laptop.
After the T-Mobile Communication Center-installation, the Modem Wizard is launched automatically (“Install New Modem” -screen).
Select “Nokia D211 GSM modem” in the left pull-down list and click OK.
M Important Note
Do not insert the card in the PC until you are prompted to do so.
The installation of the Nokia D211 WLAN/GPRS card, now starts:
1. Click Next in the Welcome screen.
2. License agreement. Read and accept the license agreement and click I Accept.
3. Installation folder. Choose installation folder or simply use the default one by clicking Next.
4. Select Typical as installation type and click Next.
5. Summary screen. A summary screen of the choices you have made is displayed. Click Next.
6. When the screen below is displayed, it’s time to insert your Nokia D211 WLA/GPRS card into your PC. Make sure that your T-Mobile SIM card is inserted in the Nokia D211 card as well.
The installation of the modem and required devices for WLAN and GPRS are now started. The installation procedure will install three items on your PC:
It is important that you follow the installation as described below to install the Nokia D211 WLAN/GPRS card. For all three devices the procedure will be the same.
7. In the “Found New Hardware Wizard”, let “Install the software automatically” be ticked and click Next, to let the installation start.
8. If a “Microsoft Certificate prompt” pops up, click “Continue Anyway”.
9. Click Finish to finalize the installation of the Nokia D211 multifunction device.
The installation continues with the second item, the Nokia D211 GSM Modem.
10. In the “Found New Hardware Wizard”, let “Install the software automatically” be ticked and click Next, to let the installation start.
11. If a “Microsoft Certificate prompt” pops up, click “Continue Anyway”.
12. Click Finish to finalize the installation of the Nokia D211 GSM Modem.
The installation continues with the third and last item for the Nokia D211 WLAN/GPRS card, the Nokia D211 radio card drive.
13. In the “Found New Hardware Wizard”, let “Install the software automatically” be ticked and click Next, to let the installation start.
14. If a “Microsoft Certificate prompt” pops up, click “Continue Anyway”.
15. Click Finish to finalize the installation of the Nokia D211 radio driver.
16. The last screen that finalizes the Nokia D211 WLAN/GPRS card-installation appears. Make sure that both the radio buttons, (“I want to view the Readme.txt file” and “I want to start using the Nokia D211 now”), are un-ticked.
Then click Finish.
17. Now you are prompted to fill in the PIN code of your SIM card. Fill in the four digits in the field and click OK.
18. The following message usually appears after the installation is finalized. Simply click OK and do not reboot the PC!
T-Mobile Communication Center configures the standard devices for the Nokia D211 card. For WLAN connections the device Nokia D211 radio card driver is configured and for GPRS connections the device Nokia D211 GSM modem.
Now the T-Mobile Communication Center is launched and will automatically start to search for a T-Mobile WLAN Hotspot. See section Connecting over WLAN to continue connecting over WLAN. For information on how to connect over GPRS, please refer to sectionConnecting over GPRS.
After the T-Mobile Communication Center-installation, the Modem Wizard is launched automatically (“Install New Modem” -screen).
Select “GPRS PC card from T-Mobile” in the left pull-down list and click OK.
M Important Note
Do Not insert the card in the PC until you are prompted to do so.
Now the installation starts:
1. The Welcome screen is displayed. Simply click Next.
2. System check. The installer will check the system. Simply click Next.
3. Driver installation. To start the installation of drivers, simply click Next.
4. Insert card. Make sure that you have inserted your SIM card in the GPRS PC Card from T-Mobile and then insert your GPRS PC Card from T-Mobile, into your PC.
5. Card detection. The installer detects the card. To start the installation of drivers, simply click Next.
M Important Notes
The device driver for the GPRS card from T-Mobile was certified for Windows XP. When installing the driver under Windows 2000 you will be displayed certificate messages for this driver. If you get this message, please click on Next to continue the installation. When the certificate message is displayed, select Continue anyway and finalize the installation in the last dialog with Finish.
6. Completion. Click Finish to finalize the installation of the GPRS PC card from T-Mobile.
7. T-Mobile Communication Center will reboot your PC now to finish the driver installation. Select OK to continue.
8. After the reboot start T-Mobile Communication Center by selecting the icon on the desktop or the entry in Start / Programs.
9. T-Mobile Communication Center now configures the standard modem for GPRS with the name WCM Modem (GSM). Please keep in mind that this configuration can last up to one to two minutes!
10. After that you will be prompted to fill in the PIN code number for your SIM card. Fill in the 4-digit code in the field.
Now the T-Mobile Communication Center is launched and will by default automatically start to search for a T-Mobile WLAN Hot spot. It will however switch over to GPRS after a couple of seconds.
You can, via the Override button, select GPRS manually as well.
