Establish an Inter-Organizational Connection Agreement

You can configure a recipient Connection Agreement to replicate objects between two organizations. For example, if you are replicating information between an Exchange 5.5 server in one organization and Windows 2000 Active Directory, which contains a different Exchange 2000 organization (or no Exchange 2000 organization), you must configure the Connection Agreement as an inter-organizational Connection Agreement.

Important   This option is not available for public folder Connection Agreements.

An example in which you would not select this options is if you're installing an Exchange server into an existing Exchange 5.5 site. In this case, the Exchange 2000 organization is the same as the Exchange organization.

Note   By default, this option is not selected.

To establish an inter-organizational Connection Agreement:

  1. On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Connector.
  2. In the details pane, double-click the Connection Agreement for which you want to choose replication options.
  3. On the Advanced tab, select the This is an Inter-Organizational Connection Agreement check box.
