Customize Object Matching Rules

When replicating directory information using a Connection Agreement, you can customize the object matching rules used during replication.

Note   By default, objects are matched by globally unique identifier (GUID), legacyExchange DN, and primary Windows NT account. If no match is found or if these objects are unavailable, the replication creates a new object in the directory.

To customize object matching rules:

  1. On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Connector.
  2. In the console tree, right-click Active Directory Connector Management, and then click Properties.
  3. Click either the From Exchange tab or the From Windows tab, depending on the direction to which you want to replicate information. If you are performing a two-way replication, you must select object matching rules on both tabs.
  4. Click Add to add a new rule.

Note   Be sure to enter the criteria in both the From Exchange and From Windows tabs if you have two-way Connection Agreements. This ensures that ADC replicates to the same object in both locations.

  5. To change the order of the new rules you have created, select a rule, and click Up or Down.
