Allow Anonymous Access

Enabling anonymous connections allows HTTP clients to access resources without specifying a Microsoft Windows 2000 user account. Passwords for anonymous accounts are not verified; the password is only logged in Windows 2000 Event Log. By default, anonymous access is not enabled.

To allow anonymous access:

  1. Start System Manager
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to HTTP.

  3. Right-click a virtual server, and then click Properties.
  4. On the Access tab, click Authentication.
  5. Select the Anonymous access check box.
  6. In Anonymous account, type the name of the existing Windows account that grants appropriate permissions to users who don't authenticate.
