Process Control Messages

Control messages are requests sent to NNTP Service to delete a specific article from a newsgroup or to add or delete an entire newsgroup from an NNTP server. When an NNTP server receives control messages, it queues the messages until you decide whether to accept the request and make the change; for example, if you post an article to a newsgroup and later decide to remove it using the Cancel command in Microsoft Outlook Express, the client sends a control message to delete the article.

NNTP Service accepts the following basic control messages:

Tip   You should restrict control messages to prevent unwanted changes to articles and newsgroups. You can also restrict other NNTP servers from pulling articles from NNTP Service.
