You can change the default properties of Exchange public folders
with System Manager. The public folder store is a storage device
for a server's public folders. Exchange supports multiple public
folder stores.
On the Start menu, point to
Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click
System Manager.
Navigate to the public
folders store in the console tree, right-click the public folders
store, and then click Properties.

On the General tab, set the following properties:
To change the name, type a new name in Name.
To change the name and location of the associated public folder
tree, use Associated public folder tree.
If your clients support S/MIME, click Clients support S/MIME
signatures. Disable this to convert messages with S/MIME
signatures to MIME unsigned messages. This allows clients that
cannot interpret MIME to view signed messages.
To convert scalable fonts to fixed fonts, click Convert
inbound Internet messages to fixed font.
On the Database tab, set the following properties:
To change the name and location of the Rich Text Format (RTF)
file, click Exchange database. To move the databases, use
System Manager on the server on which the databases reside.
To change the name and location of the MIME format file, click
Exchange streaming database. To move the databases, use
System Manager on the server on which the databases reside.
To build a custom schedule graphically, click a value in Run
maintenance during this time or click Customize .
To prevent automatic mounting of the store, click Don't
mount this store at start-up.
To allow database overwrites, click This database can be
overwritten by a restore.
On the Limits tab, set the following properties:
To set a retention period for deleted items, click Keep
deleted items for (days).
To preserve items until backup, click Don't permanently
delete items until the store has been backed up.
To send a warning when the storage used reaches the value
specified, click Issue warning at (KB).
To stop sending and receiving mail when the storage used
reaches a specific size, click Prohibit send and receive at
(KB).
To build a custom schedule graphically, click a value in
Send over-limit messages or click Customize .
To set an age limit for folders, click Age limit for all
folders in this store (days) and type a value.
To add information, use Administrative note on the
Details tab.
To set permissions for the public folder store for users and
groups, on the Security tab, click a user or group, and then
click Allow or Deny to grant or deny permission.
Note Permissions inherited
from the parent object (the storage group) are indicated by shaded
check boxes. Scroll to the bottom of the Permissions list to
see the extended permissions specific to Exchange.
