Route Mail Using Address Spaces

Messages that pass through the GroupWise connector must have the correct address space so that they can be routed to the correct destination. The address space determines which messages bound for the GroupWise system are routed by the connector.

To route mail using address spaces:

  1. Start System Manager
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to Connector for Novell GroupWise.

    Connectors

    1. Connector for Novell GroupWise
  3. Right-click Connector for Novell GroupWise (server_name), and then click Properties.
  4. On the Address Space tab, click Add.
  5. In Add Address Space, select GWISE, and then click OK.
  6. Provide the following address information:
  7. Type

    The address type: GWISE

    Address

The GroupWise address, in the form: GroupWise_domain.Post_office.Object_ID

Note   You can use an asterisk (*) as a wildcard for any or all of the parts of the address.

For example, the address "Domain.*.*" causes mail headed for the GroupWise domain called "Domain" to be routed through this connector.

    Cost

A routing metric that indicates the relative "cost" of using this connector to send messages. The cost designates the preferred route for a message among multiple routes. Lower-cost routes take precedence over higher-cost routes. To balance the message load across multiple connectors, assign the same cost to each connector. The range is 0 to 100, and the default is 1.
  8. Specify the connector scope. This setting determines whether mail originating from other routing groups can be sent through this connector. Select one of the following:
  9. Entire Organization

Any message from the entire Exchange organization that is addressed to this address space will be routed through this connector by the Exchange MTA.

    Routing Group

This connector is "hidden" from other routing groups. Only messages sent from users whose accounts are hosted by the local routing group can be routed through this connector by the MTA. For example, if you have specified that messages addressed to Domain.Post_Office.Object_ID are to be routed through this connector, then only those messages originating in this routing group will be routed to the "Domain" domain. Such a message originating in a different routing group would have to be routed using a different address space.
