Import Contacts or Users

Use the Import Container tab to specify a container in which to import GroupWise recipients. With Exchange, you can choose to import users in three different ways: as users, security-disabled users, or contacts.

Note   Once you select an import container, you cannot remove the container.

To import contacts or users:

  1. Start System Manager
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to Connector for Novell GroupWise.

    Connectors

    1. Connector for Novell GroupWise
  3. Right-click Connector for Novell GroupWise (server_name), and then click Properties.

  4. On the Import Container tab, click one of the following options:
  5. Create a disabled Windows user account

This option creates a Windows user account for the user, but disables it. A GroupWise user with this account will receive mail at their GroupWise mailbox. Although the user cannot log on to Windows 2000 resources, the account can be enabled using the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.

Create a new Windows user account

This option creates an active Windows user account for the user. A GroupWise user with this account will still receive mail at their GroupWise mailbox; they are not mailbox-enabled. However, they can log on to Windows 2000 and access those resources with this account.

    Create a Windows contact

This option creates the user as a contact. The GroupWise user will receive mail at their GroupWise mailbox. They will not be able to access Windows 2000 resources.

Important   If you create a Windows user, you can use this option to toggle between active and inactive user accounts through directory synchronization. However, you cannot change a user to a contact or vice-versa using this option. To make this change, you must manually delete the contact or user and then perform the import function again.
