If a storage limit is exceeded, the mailbox-enabled user is
warned or prohibited from sending or receiving e-mail. You can use
the default storage limits, or you can set your own storage
limits.
To define the storage limits for a mailbox-enabled user:
On the Start menu, point to
Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then
click Active Directory Users and Computers.
In the console tree, expand the Windows 2000 domain.
Double-click Users, or double-click the node that contains
the recipient information you want to modify.
In the details pane, double-click the mailbox-enabled user you
want to set storage limits for.
On the Exchange General tab, click Storage
Limits.
In the Storage Limits dialog box, under Storage
limits, click to clear the Use mailbox store defaults
check box.
To specify the maximum amount of space that a mailbox can
occupy before a warning message is sent to the user, select the
Issue warning at (KB) check box, and then type the storage
limit in the text box.
Note The value you specify
for Issue warning at (KB) should be less than the value you
specify for Prohibit send at (KB). The value you specify for
Prohibit send and receive at (KB) should be greater than the
value you specify for Prohibit send at (KB).
To specify the maximum amount of space that a mailbox can
occupy before the user is prohibited from sending more messages,
select the Prohibit send at (KB) check box, and then type
the storage limit in the text box.
To specify the maximum amount of space that a mailbox can

messages, select the Prohibit send and receive at (KB) check
box, and then type the storage limit in the text box.
