Use MAPI Rich-Text Format for Mail-Enabled Users or Contacts

You can select whether your mail-enabled users or contacts can receive Exchange e-mail in MAPI rich-text format. MAPI allows the use of character attributes (such as bold, color, and italic) in messages. This format also allows messages to have attachments.

To enable MAPI rich-text format for a mail-enabled user or contact:

  1. Start Active Directory Users and Computers
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.
  2. In Active Directory Users and Computers, on the View menu, click Advanced Features.
  3. In the console tree, expand the Windows 2000 domain. Double-click Users, or double-click the node that contains the recipient information you want to modify.
  4. In the details pane, double-click the mail-enabled user or contact you want to modify.
  5. On the Exchange Advanced tab, select the Use MAPI rich text format check box.
