Using Exchange 2000 Server with Previous Versions of
Exchange
There are tools and techniques for running Exchange 2000 Server
in an organization that consists of servers running a previous
version of Exchange.
Because Exchange 2000 Server is so closely integrated with
Windows 2000, it does not contain a directory as previous versions
of Exchange did. Instead, Exchange 2000 Server uses Active Directory for all directory
services.
By using Active
Directory Connector, you can configure an Exchange 2000
Server computer to share information with a computer running a
previous version of Exchange. Active Directory Connector allows you
to replicate information between Active Directory and your previous
version of Exchange. You can add new Active Directory features, and
continue to deploy Exchange 2000 Server, without disrupting your
current Exchange organization.
