Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting Exchange 2000 Server requires using the available tools and resources to identify a problem with a specific component, find the cause, and solve the problem. Monitoring your messaging system using Exchange 2000 and Windows 2000 tools prevents Exchange from operating without adequate resources and identifies potential problems before they occur. To troubleshoot Exchange, you can use some of the same tools that allow you to maintain servers and services.

To ensure reliability, monitor Exchange closely to find problem areas, determine which component or service to examine, and find a solution. Refer to conceptual information to better understand the component with which you are working. If you need further help, this section lists additional resources, such as the Microsoft Exchange Web site.

Note   For information on using Windows 2000 tools, see the Windows 2000 Server documentation.
