The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool examines the Win32_OperatingSystem Microsoft Windows® Management Instrumentation (WMI) class to determine the value for the ServicePackMajorVersion key on the Active Directory Connector (ADC) server. The Exchange Server Analyzer also examines the following registry entry to determine the version of Windows that is running on the ADC server:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\CurrentVersion

If the Exchange Server Analyzer determines that the ADC server is running a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server operating system but is not running Service Pack 4 (SP4) for Windows 2000 Server, a warning is displayed.

As a best practice, Microsoft recommends running the latest service packs for all software in your Exchange deployment, including ADC servers.

To correct this error

  1. Update this ADC server and any others that are running a Windows 2000 Server operating system to SP4, plus the latest hotfixes and updates from Windows Update.

  2. Update all other Exchange Server computers running a Windows 2000 Server operating system to the latest service pack and roll-ups.
