The Microsoft® Exchange Server Best Practices Analyzer Tool report displays the analysis of the data gathered in a scan of the Exchange organization. You can select from three types of reports, List Reports, Tree Reports, and Other Reports.

List Reports

The default view is the Critical Issues list. This Critical Issues list displays only the errors that were found. Errors are critical issues that immediately affect Exchange Server performance and availability. The All Issues list displays errors, warnings, and best practices violations. The Non-Default Settings list displays configuration changes made to the server since the installation of the Exchange Server product. The Recent Changes list displays configuration changes made to the server within past five days. This includes the installation of service packs and other updates. The Baseline list displays configuration discrepancies between nodes in a cluster.

Tree Reports

The Detailed View displays all configuration settings that have been collected by the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool. The Summary View displays a hierarchical representation of all issues found in the Exchange environment.

Other Reports

The Hidden Items report displays the issues that the Exchange Administrator has chosen to mask from the other Exchange Server Analyzer reports. Items in this list can be included in the other reports if un-masked. The Run-Time Log report displays collection milestone information and any errors returned during the collection process.

In the Critical Issues list, All Issues list, and Non-Default Settings list, you can click any error or warning issue to see an explanation. You can then click Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it to get more detailed information.

Note:
The output data XML file and a log file of the scan are located at <system drive>\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\ExBPA.
