Use the Add-IPBlockListEntry cmdlet to add an IP address or IP address range to the IP Block list configuration information for the Connection Filter agent on a computer that has the Hub Transport server role or Edge Transport server role installed.

Detailed Description

You need to be assigned permissions before you can run this cmdlet. Although all parameters for this cmdlet are listed in this topic, you may not have access to some parameters if they're not included in the permissions assigned to you. Parameters

The IPAddress parameter specifies a single IP address to add to the IP Block list, for example, 192.168.0.1.

IPRange

Microsoft.Exchange.Data.IPRange

The IPRange parameter specifies a range of IP addresses to add to the IP Block list. You can use the following formats:

  • CIDR IP    You can use Classless InterDomain Routing (CIDR), for example, 192.168.0.1/24.

  • IP range   You can use an IP address range, for example, 192.168.0.1-192.168.0.254.

Comment

Optional

System.String

The Comment parameter specifies administrative notes or reminders about this specific entry. You must enclose the value of the Comment parameter in quotation marks ("), for example, "this is an admin note".

Confirm

Optional

System.Management.Automation.SwitchParameter

The Confirm switch causes the command to pause processing and requires you to acknowledge what the command will do before processing continues. You don't have to specify a value with the Confirm switch.

ExpirationTime

Optional

System.DateTime

The ExpirationTime parameter specifies a day and time when the IP Block list entry that you're creating will expire. If you specify a time only, and you don't specify a date, the current day is assumed. When you enter a specific date, use the short date format defined in the Regional Options settings configured on the local computer. For example, if your computer is configured to use the short date format mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss, to set the expiration time at 11:00 January 3, 2010, enter the following information, enclosed in quotation marks ("): "1/3/2010 11:00".

Server

Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.ServerIdParameter

The Server parameter specifies a Hub Transport server on which to run this command. If you don't use the Server parameter, the command is run on the local server.

You can't use this command to configure other Edge Transport servers remotely.

WhatIf

Optional

System.Management.Automation.SwitchParameter

The WhatIf switch instructs the command to simulate the actions that it would take on the object. By using the WhatIf switch, you can view what changes would occur without having to apply any of those changes. You don't have to specify a value with the WhatIf switch.

Input Types

To see the input types that this cmdlet accepts, see Cmdlet Input and Output Types. If the Input Type field for a cmdlet is blank, the cmdlet doesn’t accept input data.

Return Types

To see the return types, which are also known as output types, that this cmdlet accepts, see Cmdlet Input and Output Types. If the Output Type field is blank, the cmdlet doesn’t return data.

This example adds the IP address 192.168.0.100 to the list of blocked IP addresses.

This example adds the IP address range 192.168.0.1/24 to the list of blocked IP addresses and configures the IP Block list entry to expire at 23:59 on January 3, 2010.
