Use the Manage Clustered Mailbox Server wizard to move, stop, and start a clustered mailbox server (CMS). The Exchange Management Shell can also be used to perform the tasks that are available in this wizard. Although Cluster Administrator and the Cluster.exe command-line tool can move, stop, and start cluster resource groups between nodes, you should not use either of them to manage a CMS. Instead, the preferred way to move, stop, or start a CMS is to use the Manage Clustered Mailbox Server wizard in the Exchange Management Console, or the equivalent cmdlets in the Exchange Management Shell, which are:

Use the Move Clustered Mailbox Server page to select the passive node to which you want to move the CMS, and to add an administrative note as to why the CMS is being moved.

On the Move Clustered Mailbox Server page, click Browse to select the node to which you want to move the CMS. Select the passive node and click OK.

In the Move comment field, type a comment or administrative note about the move and click Next.

Note:
If you did not intend to move a CMS but instead wanted to stop or start a CMS, click the Back button and select the desired management action.
Note:
Performing this operation results in a brief interruption in service. In a cluster continuous replication (CCR) environment, the amount of time it takes to perform the handoff of the CMS depends on multiple factors, one of which is the number of log files that need to be copied and replayed before databases are accessible from the new node. The actual time it takes to perform the handoff is logged in the Application event log, with an event source of MSExchangeRepl, and an Event ID of 100.
