The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory® directory service to determine the format for the legacyExchangeDN attribute on the Exchange organization object. If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds the legacyExchangeDN attribute invalid or malformed, an error is displayed.

This value for this attribute is of the form /o=Organization, where Organization is the name of the Exchange organization. If the value begins with anything other than /o= or /O=, it is considered malformed. This problem should be corrected as soon as possible.

To correct this error for Exchange 2000 Server or Exchange Server 2003

  1. Perform the Exchange Server ForestPrep process. During this process, if the Setup program determines that legacyExchangeDN is in the wrong format, it will automatically correct the problem.
